Finnish Facts 31-34

31. The Mobile Phone Throwing World Championships have been held annually in Finland since 2000. The event was created by a Nokia employee to create awareness of the rise in toxicity levels in landfills and lakes caused by discarded phones. The farthest throw was in 2014 at 362.3ft (110.42m).

32. Finland is the first nation in the world to experiment with autonomous vehicles in urban conditions. That is because the country’s book of law doesn’t oblige the driver to be inside the vehicle.

33. In Finland, it is forbidden to sell puppies or kittens in pet shops.

34. The word ‘Third World’ has little to do with how poor a country is. Sweden and Finland are also considered to be the Third World countries.
